Julia has conducted research with a Public History professor at the University of Louisville. She has also completed two intensive research projects through the National History Day Competition, advancing to the national level both years.

Julia has been recognized as a national youth leader in the field of historic preservation. She received the Daughters of the American Revolution Historic Preservation Award and Pittenger American History Scholarship.

Julia also served as a costumed interpreter at Historic Locust Grove in Louisville, Kentucky for five years. As a volunteer in this role she was thrilled to use her research and acting skills to bring history to life.
